Class 3: First Week Back

What a great first week back! Year 5 have already settled in, getting used to the new classroom and having Miss John, the tour de force teacher. Ask them if they know what it means, it’s from our new book A Wolf called Wander!
We have been busy starting on our Corbett Maths, getting used to our new English Practice for grammar and literary devices. All pupils have read to a teacher or Mrs Bullough, there will be no reading record books this year, we record everything in class. Come and ask Miss John before or after school if you want to see how.
We have also been practicing Tag Rugby ready for the tournament next Wednesday at Cobra. We will walk up straight from school in the morning. I have chosen the first 8 for both teams, but all pupils will get a chance to be subbed on or just support their peers if they would rather. Pupils will need packed lunch, plenty of water and a waterproof, if only to sit on. The tournament runs from 9.30- 2.30.
Congratulations to Alfie, Callum, Lily, Avril, Ariadne, Daisy-May, Elsa, Seren and Phoebe who will have their short stories by Young Writers after we entered a competition last term. Utterly brilliant!
Don’t forget school photos on the 20th September and the INSET days on the 18th and 19th of September!
Thank you to the class for the wonderful week – you reminded me again why I love teaching!
